About Experimute™ (Patent Pending)
Every trumpet player knows the compromise: you pick a mute, you get a sound — and that's it. Experimute changes the equation. We've developed a mute platform that lets players actively shape the resonant properties of their sound — a level of tonal control no other mute on the market provides.
At home, it's a laboratory. On stage, it's a decision. The Experimute lets you experiment endlessly in the woodshed so that when the curtain goes up, you already know exactly how you want to sound.
What's Inside
Every Experimute ships with everything you need to get started:
Prototype Edition
The V3 Prototype is the direct precursor to the upcoming production Experimute — fully functional in every way. Available for a limited time at 20% off the production price, these prototypes fund the injection mold that will bring the production version to life.
These are fully functional 3D-printed prototypes — the real Experimute, ready to play. Available in random colors.
You may notice a minor Z-seam — a small cosmetic line on the surface that is a natural artifact of the 3D printing process. It has zero effect on fit, feel, or sound.
The FUN really begins when you start experimenting with your own resonators.
Try cloth, paper, or aluminum foil. Layer two cloths with a piece of wood or plastic sandwiched in between. Mix materials, vary the thickness, change the tension. Every combination responds differently and the result is a sound that is entirely your own.
And here's something no other mute can offer: play with no resonator at all, and you have an open platform for your hand or a plunger — giving you a fresh take on the classic wah-wah sound. Add a resonator back in, and you can still do the wah-wah — effectively creating a plunged bucket-mute combination that simply doesn't exist anywhere else in the world of brass accessories.
